New umpires are required to first attend an umpires mechanics clinic taught by Western Region Little League trained instructors. Once the clinic is completed, new umpires can then be assigned games on the umpire schedule. More details for new umpires regarding the program on the "Program Details" page (under Umpires).

There are two umpire mechanics clinic training events prior to the start of the 2026 season. Returning umpires must attend a clinic each year to increase their game reimbursement for that season. Registration is required to attend:

- Saturday, January 31st; 9am-1pm

This season, District 31 staff is planning two (possibly a third) Zoom meetings to discuss common rule situations that are misunderstood or mis-applied, etc. The meetings are youth/new umpire "friendly". There will be a lively discussion of rules, and game management (if time allows). There will be use of game situations on video for the rules discussion. Time to see if you know "what's the call?" Attendance is beneficial - but optional. Currently scheduled are the following:
- Tue, Feb 10th; 7-8 PM
- Tue, Feb 24th; 7-8 PM
- TBD (March)

Our youth umpire program is intended as a leadership development program for local youth in the community. Our participants gain self-confidence and learn people skills that last a lifetime.

For game assignments, send requests via email with game specifics - including game date, time, and field. Without this information, the request(s) will be delayed!!
