  • All injuries reported to the league are documented and reviewed by the Safety Officer. The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all the necessary forms, including insurance and injury reports, are distributed and completed.

 

  • An injury is when any player, manager, coach, umpire, or volunteer has to receive medical treatment and/or first aid. This includes even passive treatments such as the evaluation and diagnosis of the extent of the injury or periods of rest.  For example: 

    • ​Unconscious player

    • Cuts, scrapes & bruises (minor & profuse)

    • Cut lip, gums or tongue

    • Straings & sprains

    • Fractures

    • Insect bites & stings

    • Knocked out or fractured teeth

 

  • The manager/coach must report an injury within 24 hours of the incident to the safety officer ( )

 

  • The manager/coach must submit an Injury Incident Report when an incident causes any player, manager, coach, umpire, or volunteer to receive medical treatment and/or first aid. At a minimum, the following information must be provided:

    • ​The name and phone number of the individuals involved, including the person reporting/completing the report

    • The date, time and location of the incident

    • Description of the incident, including the extent of the injury

 

  • Within 48 hours of receipt, the Safety Officer will contact the injured person/parents. The Safety Officer will also coordinate with the Player Agent (playeragent@delmarll.org) if deemed necessary. 

 

  • The Safety Officer is to provide any injured player a copy of the Little League Baseball Accident Notification Form should the player wish to file an insurance claim with Little League Baseball. This form is required to be forwarded to Little League Headquarters within 20 days after the incident.
